HOLY ANGELS NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL NKPOR…

Brief History

Holy Angels’ Nursery School was founded by Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Uzoigwe I.H.M the then superior General of Immaculate Heart Congregation. It was approved on the 13th day of March 1981. It is one of the twentieth century institutions that got its approval before it started to function, unlike its counterparts that started before the approval.

The School took off on the 27th of April 1981 with only thirty five (35) pupils, two teachers and on attendant, Rev. Sr. Anthony Emodi Late (Mama Antho) was the first headmistress of the School. The advent of the Immaculate Heart Sisters at Nkpor made the founding of the School a reality.

One of the most important things that Archbishop Charles Heerey did was the founding of Schools and this he imparted to his spiritual daughters. In the same Spirit Mother Mary Joseph Uzoigwe was inspired to start this School for the upbringing of little Children.

Holy Angels’ Nursery/Primary School, the Brainchild of Immaculate heart Congregation , founded ten years after the Nigerian/Biafran war, proved useful to all and sundry especially those who lived within Nkpor and Idemili areas of Anambra state. “Charity and Honesty” is the motto of the school is very much imparted to all who come in contact with us. Here Children are taught to love themselves and their neighbors like themselves, in honesty and sincerity as their Angels rally round them.

Due to the great quest for continuity in quality education the headmistress requested for the approval of Primary Section. The request was granted on account of good administration, accommodation, conductive environment for studies and safety on the Children evident in the School.

Our primary section was officially erected in 1994 with the permission of Rev. Mother Mary Joseph Ann Anochie, with Sr. Mary Lawrence Ezeugo as the first Headmistress of Primary Section.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The pupils sat for their first state common Entrance as well as Federal Examinations in 1998. This made the Institution to be known near and far for her performance and by the year 2003, the School was one of the centers for common entrance examinations. Every year about two hundred pupils (200) sit for the state common entrance examination in our primary section. The opportunity of being of the state common entrance examination centers was granted because of its well placed structures in the academic excellence in the Ogidi Region. It is also recorded the best School in Nkpor town.

The School has two big buses to convey the Children to and fro School. This also makes it easy to take the pupils out for different occasions; competitions, sightseeing, excursions among other things.

The management of the School has been able to achieve academic excellence to a large extent by meticulously employing well qualified, dedicated and ever caring staff to care for our pupils. This contributes to the marvelous performance of our pupils in both State and National Entrance Examinations every year. The pupils have also participated and succeeded in external examinations to gifted Children’s Schools. Juniorates , Seminaries etc.

We are in the Computer age and our children are not left out in this. The management makes earnest effort to provide our Children with basic computer education. Our pupils can comfortably discuss issues of computer at their level with their counter parts in the society. They can boast of operating them.
The School has produced Lawyers, Doctors, Engineers, Nurses etc. We are grateful to all our past pupils as they uphold the good training they received from the School in their different works of life.

May our guardian Angels continue to guide your ways and lead you unto good.
