Welcome!
On behalf of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ, I joyfully welcome you to our website. Our aim as Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ, is to love God and to make Him known, loved and served by all His creatures. There is a saying that “apt words have power to swage the tumours of troubled mind, and are as balm to festered wounds.” We hope that your visit to our website will be a Spirit filled experience and that through it you will encounter apt images and words that will be balm to you and fill you with God’s love and urge you to make God known and loved.
Our Father Founder Archbishop Charles Heerey, C.S.Sp., called for unity in our work of evangelization in the spirit of humilty and compassion. As you visit this website be united with us as family in our work of evangelization. May you experience the spirit of union and harmony and may the humility and compasssion of Jesus and Mary so permeate your inmost being. It is also our sincere prayer that you will be continually gifted with wisdom so that you can always see God at work in your life and in the world.

How you can help:
There is a popular saying that: “Some give to the Mission by going, Some go to the Mission by giving, without both, there is no Mission”. The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ give to the Mission by going, but they depend on the goodwill of other Christian faithful to make their mission complete and fruitful. This goodwill can be shown in various ways.
Our Founder
Our Founder was Archbishop Charles Heerey, C.S.Sp.(1890 – 1967), an Irishman born of good Catholic Irish parents. Sent as a Holy Ghost missionary Priest, he arrived Nigeria in November 1922, was consecrated Bishop in 1927, succeeded Bishop Joseph Shanahan as the Vicar Apostolic of Southern Nigeria in 1931, and was raised to the status of Archbishop in 1950. “His natural dignity and native honesty ruled out of his life all pretence and posing…” (cf. Archbishop Charles Heerey, Apostle of Eastern Nigeria by John Roche, C.S.Sp.)
