The 3rd Inter-School Sports organized by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Mother of Christ, saw its end at Cor Mariae Gilrs' Secondary School, Nkpor on the 19th March, 2014.

Fr. Samuel Nwadike, the Chaplain of Nkpor Complex, celebrated a Holy Mass for the students to begin the day.  Some Principals, Teachers and Sisters were present once more for the celebration. 

Activities in the Cor Mariae Girls Secondary School field followed immediately after Mass where Mrs. Ify Obinabo was the Master of Ceremony.  The Superior General, Mother Mary Claude Oguh, IHM and her Council were present.  Sir Obiafulu Ofodire, Lecturer at Oko Polytechnic chaired the occasion.  Other special guests included Dr Dominic Ezeudi, Executive member of PTA, Charles Heerey Memorial Juniorate, Urualla, representative of Dr Edozie Aroh, Commissioner for Sports, Youth and Culture, Sr. Mary Anthoninus Ezeobiagwu, the Regional Superior of Archbishop Charles Heerey Region and her council.

After opening prayer by Sr. Mary Jerome Obiorah, IHM,  the Education Coordinator, the National, Papal and Congregational Anthems were sung respectively. The students of Mater Christi Girls' High School, Igede  Ekiti, Ekiti State rendered a heartwarming welcome song.  All the Primary Schools did Match Past. Thunderous claps echoed in the field when different primary Schools displayed their matching acumen.

The Superior General, Mother Mary Claude Oguh IHM flanked by Sr. Mary Agnita Maduka, IHM, the Vicar General and Sr. Maria Philipeen Osei-Wusu, IHM, Councillor, took the salute from schools for Match Past.  Other games followed suit which included; 1,500, 400  and 100  meters race of different schools, Secondary and Primary relay races, football match etc.  Invited schools also participated in the relay races.  The students were brimming with confidence as they stepped into the field for the sports.  All the schools owned and managed by the Congregation participated in one sport or the other. 

Four medical Schools participated in the races: School of Nursing Ihiala and Agulu, then Schools of Medical Lab, Ihiala and Nkpor, all in Anambra State.  Interestingly, there were drivers' race, parents' race, teachers' race and Sisters' race.  All the groups have winners who received prices afterwards from the Superior General, Mother Mary Claude Oguh flanked by the Education and Sports Co-ordinators and the organizers.

Cor Mariae Girls' Comprehensive Secondary School, Umungazi Aba, Abia State scooped the overall first position in the games.  The second Position went to Cor Mariae Girls Sec. School, Nkpor, Anambra State. On the third position was Madonna Model Secondary College, Owerri, Imo State. The Schools received their prices with thrills of joy.

Miss Vivian Okeke, from Mater Christi Model Sec. School Ahiara Mbaise, won the best and youngest athlete of the year. The IHM Superior General,  Mother Mary Claude granted her Scholarship which she received with tears of joy.  The entire event was a huge success.
