Jubilee thanksgiving Mass for 28 IHM Sisters was organized and celebrated at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha on 20th September, 2015.

Five Sisters – Mother Mary Dominica Odita, Superior General Emerita, Srs. Mary Xavier Amaechi, Mary Francis Regis Orjiakor, Mary Theresita Ike and Mary Aloysia Ohaeri celebrated the Golden Jubilee of their First Religious Profession while 23 others celebrated their Silver Jubilee.

Archbishop Valerian Okeke was assisted by three other Bishops – Most Rev. Gregory Ochiagha, the Bishop Emeritus of Orlu diocese, Most Rev. Solomon Amatuh, the Bishop of Okigwe diocese, Most Rev. Felix Alaba Job, Bishop Emeritus of Ibadan Archdiocese, Monsignori and Priests.

Archbishop Okeke has the theme for his Homily: “Praying for Wisdom and Living in Wisdom.”  He said that Solomon in the reading of the day prayed for wisdom and God granted him that.  So we should do the same.  Then as Jesus enjoined the apostles to be like little children and be servants of others if they want to be great all must know that true greatness is not in aspiring for the best position but in serving others.  “Jubilee is a time of Thanksgiving, Favour and Reconciliation: a time to let go and begin afresh” he told the Jubilarians.  He commended the Jubilarians for their perseverance through these years.

There were group pictures after the Mass.   The Jubilarians were accompanied in songs and jubilation by families, friends, parishioners and well wishers to a reception organized for them at the Basilica field.

The Igwe of Onitsha, HRH Obi Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe (Agbogidi) and his Council were present particularly in honor of Mother Mary Dominica – Golden Jubilarian - who is a native of Onitsha.  It was a memorable celebration that left everyone thrilled for the day.
