Sr. Mary Immaculati Cordis Ezeodili Goes Home!

The mortal remains of Rev. Sr. Mary Immaculati Cordis were laid to rest at the graveyard of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ, Nkpor, Nigeria, after a funeral Mass celebrated in the Novitiate Chapel at Nkpor. Sr. Immaculati Cordis died, after a brief illness on December 12, 2015.

In his sermon, the Chief Celebrant at the Mass, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke echoed the words of St. Paul: “In your will is our peace” (Ephesians 2:14a). He noted that it is only in God true peace can be attained. Man enters into God’s peace through prayer, contemplation, constant meditation on God’s word and keeping his commandments, seeking and doing the will of God at every moment. He warned that those whose happiness is dependent on other humans are yet to find true peace and happiness.

Speaking further, the Archbishop commended Sr. Immaculati Cordis for seeking and doing the will of God by her life of total surrender and obedience to her rule of life. She was a peaceful, joyful and prayerful Religious and lived a fulfilled life. In her life time, she worked as a teacher and Formator in the Seminary and Postulate and thus formed many in virtue. Many of those who passed through her are today Priests and Sisters. He prayed that she would shine brightly like an undimmed star as promised by God himself to those who have formed others in virtue.

The funeral was attended by many Priests from Onitsha Archdiocese, Awka, Orlu and Ikot-Ekpene Dioceses. There were also numerous Religious and lay people who came to pay their last respect and pray for the happy repose of her soul.
